Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University

Overview
The Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler) provides study abroad programs to undergraduate students from approved U.S. universities. The nonprofit, founded in 1988, has semester programs in Argentina, Australia, Chile, Costa Rica, England, Mexico, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Peru, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Spain, and Wales. IFSA-Butler turned to Reveal to help refresh its brand to attract today’s tech-savvy students.

The Challenge
University students can pick from dozens of independent and university-based study abroad programs. IFSA-Butler needed to differentiate its comprehensive service offerings from others due to the expense of these programs. The Institute needed to adopt more aggressive tactics in order to connect with today’s tech savvy youth market.

Results
Reveal’s market researchers conducted focus groups in four major metropolitan areas in the United States and in London to sample the opinions of current and prospective study abroad students. The findings were used to fine-tune messaging and to develop more interactive Web site designs, rich with video and photo content from students studying abroad. All those tools were delivered by Reveal in conjunction with 20th anniversary marketing materials.
